Study: Technology Organizational Readiness
FIFA Soccer World Cup - Germany 2006
Challenge: Facilitate an organization in the implementation
phase of new operational technologies being rolled out for ease
of operations within the company environment.
Introduction: The Rhiannon Group has become specialists
in the design and creation of educational methods for unique technologies
for organizations. Organizations are forced to invest large quantities
of resources in new technology to stay competitive. Whether this
happens for normal operations or exceptional endeavors, executive
management need the reassurance that the new products are fit for
purpose and that their personnel are trained and capable of using
these products correctly. The facilitation of readiness exercises
and initiatives allowing employees, designers and executive managers
within organizations, to learn, train and understand new products,
is an extremely important part of the roll out process. Organizational
readiness initiatives encourage new management strategies and best
operational practices to ensure value for investment from the start.
The Rhiannon Group has performed such exercise for FIFA and the
2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games.
Stakeholders:
Commonwealth Games 2006 – M2006 technology, Telstra, Minolta,
ICBS, Cisco, etc
FIFA – Germany World Cup 2006 FIFA Competitions,
FIFA accommodation, FIFA Credentials, FIFA travel Germany 2006 travel,
transport and technology.
Strategy/Process: The Rhiannon Group understands
the most important factor when approaching readiness projects is
simplicity. Using the fact that we are a complete third party, we
first learn to understand the entire functionality of the proposed
new technology software/hardware. Once an understanding of the objective
of the new service is attained and the method of how the client
wants their organization to benefit from this service, we design
and develop a custom built training and evaluation model around
the agreed set goals. We then use training modules to deliver learning
techniques back to the people who will use the products. We observe
from a third party perspective and process feedback and feelings
regarding the new products. We can then understand and develop where
the new technology may still need work, and how we should develop
our contingency planning, thus ensuring organizational readiness.
Result/Conclusion: Results of exercises such as
these are that staff become competent in the use of new systems
and give feedback in a relaxed environment before systems are in
operation. We then learn how to tweak the new systems while developers
are still on site to suit our needs. Executive Management get an
opportunity to see the organizations investment in operation, management
familiarize themselves with the new product, allowing them to create
operational contingencies. The benefits in exposing your personnel
to this style of exercise are enormous, and your will be provided
instant results.
